Welcome to my Digital Museum!
Have you ever been in a situation where you knew you needed to stand up for what you believe in? Did you have the courage to take a stand? What if you knew that standing up for your beliefs could change everything, would you do it? As a former college student, I cannot imagine taking on an issue as big as segregation, especially in the 1960’s when civil rights issues were at its most critical point. This is what the “Greensboro four” faced when they decided to try and end segregation in their city and move towards a life of equal rights, even if it meant death. Greensboro, North Carolina made history during the civil rights movement, all because four young college students decided to take action and try and make a change. The Greensboro sit-ins not only had an impact on the city of Greensboro, but it also had a huge impact on civil rights movements all over the country. The sit-ins paved the way for other civil rights sit-ins and non-violent protesting. This website was created to not only inform you of the things that happened in Greensboro on that day, but to also show you how the Greensboro sit-ins had a major role in the civil rights movements of the 1960’s. It was because of one choice that four college students made that led to the start of the civil rights movements, and introduced us to the world we know today. After exploring this digital museum, you will have a full understanding of what the Greensboro sit-ins was, and how it played a major role in the civil rights movements of the 1960’s.
